Dental Clinic Digital Marketing Guide: Content, Ads and Web Strategy That Bring In Patients

Dental Clinic Digital Marketing Guide: Content, Ads and Web Strategy That Bring In Patients

Digital marketing for dental clinics runs on a different balance than in other industries: on one side, content that has to bring in patients; on the other, the limits of advertising rules in healthcare. Most clinics either shy away from these limits and produce no content at all, or ignore them and take risks with "campaign" and "discount" language. In this article, we explain how dental clinics can become visible while respecting regulations, which content actually brings in patients, and where the ad budget should go. We're sharing field experience, not legal advice; we recommend confirming the regulations your clinic is subject to with your professional chamber.

Know the limits first

In Turkey, promoting healthcare services is subject to different rules from commercial advertising. In practice, these are the points clinics pay attention to: not advertising prices or discounts, avoiding comparative and absolute claims such as "the best", "guaranteed" or "painless", obtaining written consent for patient before-and-after images, and sticking to informative language. These limits don't prevent content production; on the contrary, informative content is more effective for patient trust anyway.

What does each channel do?

Google Business Profile: the channel that brings a clinic the most patients

The "dentist near me" search is the most valuable source of traffic for most clinics. The profile should have the right category (dental clinic, dentist), opening hours, a list of dentists, real photos of the clinic and a steady flow of reviews. Reply to reviews on behalf of the dentist or clinic without disclosing the patient's health information. Our Google reviews guide shows how to systematise review collection, and our local SEO guide covers profile settings.

Content types that bring in patients

1. Dentist explainers. Videos in which the dentist answers a single question on camera in 45 seconds, such as "who are implants suitable for?" or "what to expect after a root canal". When patients see and hear the dentist, the decision to book becomes easier. 2. Clinic tour. The sterilisation area, equipment, waiting room; patients' biggest worries are hygiene and pain, and this content eases both. 3. Process walkthrough. A "what happens at your first examination" video reduces the fears of patients who have never visited. 4. FAQ stories. Answering real questions in stories, such as appointments, treatment duration and child patients. 5. Patient experience, with consent. A short video of a patient describing it in their own words; without price or outcome promises.

What you can and can't do in ads

Bidding on keywords like "implant prices" in Google Ads and putting prices in your ad copy are two different things; the first is accepted, while the second can cause problems with both the platform and the regulations. Ad copy should be informative, for example: "Learn about implant treatment and book an examination appointment." On Meta, targeting should be limited to a 5–10 kilometre radius around the clinic and an age range; in cosmetic dentistry content, body image and before-and-after policies can trigger rejections, so creatives need to be prepared accordingly. For a channel comparison, see our article Meta Ads or Google Ads.

Common mistakes

The mistakes we see most often: accounts full of stock images where the doctor never appears; "promotion" language in every post; before-and-after content shared without consent and in different lighting; no appointment form on the website; ad clicks sent to the homepage instead of the relevant treatment page. And a lack of measurement: when nobody knows which channel phone calls and WhatsApp messages come from, budget decisions are made by guesswork.

Sample monthly content calendar

Here's a sustainable plan with 3 posts and 5–7 stories a week: Monday, a doctor explainer video (Reels); Wednesday, in-clinic or team content; Friday, an informative carousel (for example "5 facts about teeth whitening"). In stories: daily questions and answers, appointment reminders and patient reviews shared with permission. One shoot day a month covers this calendar's video needs; the shoot day is planned 5–7 days in advance, the scripts the doctor will speak are submitted for approval 2 days before, and the edit is delivered in 5 business days. Website and booking flow

A clinic website should be built with treatment-based pages (implants, orthodontics, paediatric dentistry), and every page should have an appointment form and a WhatsApp link. A patient searching Google by treatment name should land directly on that page. For what to watch out for when commissioning a corporate website, see this guide.

How should the budget be planned?

For a single-location clinic, the most efficient order at the start is: first Google Business Profile and the treatment pages on your website, then Google Ads for treatment searches, and finally Instagram content and Meta ads. Ad budgets vary with the competition in the clinic's area; in the first month, starting with a small but measured budget to see which treatment searches turn into appointments is worth more than a large but unmeasured one.

Appointments and patient tracking

To avoid losing the patients digital marketing brings in, the appointment side needs to be organised too. Bringing online booking, WhatsApp reminders, patient records and treatment plan tracking together on one screen lowers the no-show rate and keeps follow-up appointments from being forgotten. Frequently asked questions

Can a dental clinic share prices on social media?

Promoting healthcare services is subject to special rules, and in practice clinics avoid advertising prices and discounts. We recommend confirming the regulations that apply to your clinic with your professional chamber.

Which channel delivers the fastest results for a dental clinic?

For most clinics, it's Google Business Profile and Google searches by treatment name. Instagram helps these searches turn into appointments by building trust in the dentist and the clinic.

Why do dentist videos matter?

When patients see and hear the dentist, their anxiety about treatment eases and booking becomes an easier decision. Videos that answer a single question briefly work best.

Can before-and-after images be shared?

They should be shared only with the patient's written consent and in a way that is not misleading. Platform policies may reject such images in ads, so creatives should be prepared accordingly.

Which pages should a clinic website have?

There should be a separate page for each treatment, plus pages for the dental team, clinic photos, and contact and map. Every page should have a booking form and a WhatsApp link.
