Most e-commerce companies in Istanbul sell all over Turkey, but their biggest market is still the city itself. That's why ad management for Istanbul e-commerce companies should be thought of in two layers: nationwide campaigns and local campaigns that highlight Istanbul-specific advantages. In this post we explain how to use Istanbul-only trump cards such as same-day delivery in your ads, how to plan the seasonal calendar and how to balance the budget between Meta and Google Ads.
The biggest advantage in ad management for Istanbul e-commerce businesses: delivery speed
If your warehouse is in Esenyurt, İkitelli or Tuzla, it means you can deliver within Istanbul the same day or the next day. That's an advantage most of your nationwide competitors can't offer, and it should be stated clearly in your ads: the phrase "Same-day delivery within Istanbul" should be the first line in both the creative and the ad copy. Especially for gifts, food, flowers, cosmetics and urgent-need products, this message alone noticeably affects conversion rates.
Technically, this means setting up a separate ad set for Istanbul: location Istanbul, a creative that highlights delivery, and a landing page version that repeats the same promise. If delivery times differ between the European and Anatolian sides (which is common because of bridge traffic), stating this honestly reduces returns and complaints.
Seasonal calendar: which periods stand out in Istanbul?
Spreading the ad budget evenly throughout the year is a common mistake in e-commerce. Certain periods of the year are when demand peaks and ad costs rise too: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, the weeks before religious holidays, back-to-school, November sales and New Year. In Istanbul, demand in some categories also drops in the summer months as people leave the city; conversely, September brings a noticeable revival in home, office and school products as people return.
A practical plan: creative production is completed at least 3–4 weeks before each peak period, test campaigns go live 2 weeks before, and in the final week of the period the budget shifts to the best-performing sets. We plan shoot days 5–7 days in advance and deliver the edit within 5 business days; these timelines need to be built into the calendar from the start.
Meta or Google? Balancing the budget in e-commerce
The short answer: both together. Google Ads captures people already searching for the product; shopping campaigns and brand searches are the most efficient areas here. Meta reaches people who aren't searching for the product yet but might be interested, and brings back cart abandoners through remarketing. For a new brand, the starting split is usually weighted toward Meta; as brand awareness grows, brand searches on Google increase and the budget balances out.
Feeding the product catalog correctly to both platforms (stock, price, image quality) matters more than the ad itself; a faulty catalog spends the budget on out-of-stock products. For more detail, see our post Meta Ads or Google Ads.
Campaign mechanics: a reason, not a discount
Constant discounting erodes a brand's price perception. A campaign needs a reason: a season change, a new collection, a free-shipping threshold, a bundle deal. As an Istanbul-specific angle, messages like "pick up in store" or "free shipping within Istanbul" drive conversions without discounting. Keep the campaign period short and clear; a countdown timer works if it's honest, but a timer that keeps getting extended costs trust.
Product video and photos: what really decides an ad
Same budget, same targeting; the difference usually comes from the creative. The formats that work best in e-commerce: a 15-second video showing the product in use, the unboxing moment, an honest review from someone holding the product, and a carousel combining white-background and lifestyle photos. In the content we produced for John Lucas Fragrances, a brand we work with, we saw that showing the product in its setting and moment of use drove more engagement than a product image alone.
It's possible to produce both photos and short videos of 10–15 products in a single shoot day; for detailed planning, see our article on product photography.
Landing page and technical infrastructure
No matter how good the ad is, a site that loads slowly or stalls at checkout wastes the budget. Mobile speed, secure payment options, clearly visible shipping information on the product page and a separately stated delivery time for Istanbul are the basic requirements. During campaign periods, using a dedicated landing page for the campaign instead of the product page increases conversion; our landing page guide covers this topic. Our e-commerce website projects start from 25.000₺ (excluding VAT).
Reporting: which numbers to watch?
Clicks and impressions alone tell you nothing. What to look at: return on ad spend, cost per cart, conversion by product category, and the cost difference between Istanbul and other provinces. That last comparison shows whether the local campaign is really working. Monthly reporting is a standard part of all our ad management services; Meta ad management starts from 16.000₺ and Google Ads management from 12.000₺ (excluding VAT).
